Biography

I have been an artist in Little Rock for close to 40 years. Duringthis time I have worked in graphic design, figurative clay sculpture, painting, drawing, installation art and murals. I took some years off from art and returned about 5 years ago.  I knew I wanted to recreate myself artistically. That I have done. Both stylistically and by expanded my genres. My most recent exhibitions were the SHE show at M2 gallery where my work is currently exhibited and a solo show at ACANSA gallery called “Janet” and also at Gallery26. Those exhibits show my most recent work.

I very much like when I can combine my art and activism. Past art and activism endeavors have been the Prison Portrait Project for Compassion Works for All and 7th Street murals with the Arkansas Coalition for Peace and Justice. Currently I am continuing my work on the 7th Street murals. And most recently I finished a collaborative project with the US Water Alliance and Central Arkansas Water to address water issues and celebrate water. That mural was functional with a water bottle feature installed in the mural.

Tanya received the 2022 Art Fellowship Award for Community engagement and Peace Activist of the Year  from Arkansas Coalition for Peace and Justice for 2022.
