Lisa Krannichfeld is an award-winning, internationally-known artist residing in Arkansas. Her portrayal of strong females in her work embodies both the triumphs and the struggles of being female in society. The stoic gazes suggest a fierce determination while the vicious animals (often depicted in the patterning) elude to the continued fight for recognition and equality. She has three different, but related, series currently. The Undomesticated Interiors focuses on females seated strongly in interior spaces -- spaces which for years females were expected to maintain for their families. The Girls in Guise series crops the faces of the females to focus more on the lower part of the face and the often bruised and scraped hands -- again eluding to the fight for equality that has been going on for centuries and continues today. Her Dressed series focuses primarily on a full, more traditional portrait pose using the face and eyes to convey the determination.
