Biography
Born and raised in Hot Springs, AR, Alexandra Eastburn (b.1987) lives and works in Memphis, TN, as an artist and a gardener. She received a BFA in Drawing from the Memphis College of Art in 2012 and has since exhibited work internationally. Her work, both gestural and precise, drifts through surreal botanomorphic dreamscapes and further into vast metaphysical realms; her relationship to process is intuitive, automatic, and spiritual, usually consisting of watercolor on paper. Eastburn’s exhibition in Tokyo, Music From A Spiral Corridor, featured several dozen of her drawings and paintings alongside intricate handmade costume jewelry based on her work by the Japanese design duo EETY-MEWO. She has exhibited at Alt Medium in Tokyo, Japan, Luca in Kobe, Japan, Lowell in Portland, OR, the Portland Museum of Modern Art in Portland, OR, Panel in Los Angeles, CA, My Pet Ram in New York, NY, Amy Li Projects at 166 Mott Street in New York, NY, the Garrison Art Center in Garrison, NY, The Holy Underground in Baltimore, MD, Faith/Void in Toronto, ON, Glitch Gallery in Memphis, TN, and ANF Architects in Memphis, TN. She also makes hand-painted apparel and has designed several album covers for musician friends.
